True Widow / Bad Dream Wednesday! Hot Graves / Occultist Sunday BBQ matinee! Restorations / Bats & Mice Sunday night!

We're really stoked to announce that Texas trio TRUE WIDOW will be playing this Wednesday at The Acheron with local fuzz-rock favorites BAD DREAMThis promises to be an evening of heavy and gorgeous proportion.

From NoisePop:

With the demise of the pummeling punk band Slowride, songwriter Dan Phillips walked away from music for a brief stint in woodworking before returning to his fist love. He formed True Widow as an attempt to make space between him and his previous incantation, and set out to create melodic and heavy music that slowed the pace and heightened the power. Now a fully formed trio, True Widow is equal parts shoegaze and soaring post rock, but with surprisingly heartfelt lyrics and magnificently beautiful subtleties.

We're closed for a private event on Saturday, but Sunday brings us a double header like we've never done before. Starting at 3pm we're doing a BBQ matinee show for Florida heavy Jammers HOT GRAVES and Richmond pagans OCCULTIST. In true southern fashion, we'll be drinking cold beer and eating barbecue while jamming out to some kick-ass metal.

Later that night, the indie kids will have their say! BATS & MICE have a resumé a mile long, with the likes of SLEEPYTIME TRIO, ENGINE DOWN, 400 YEARS and myriad others establishing a solid pedigree, these guys bring their own brand of melodic pop/rock to our stage Sunday night, alongside mellow fellows RESTORATIONS and brooklyn punk-poppers LITTLE LUNGS, who are recently back from an Australian tour.
