James at City Lights brings us another night of circle-pitting, floor-punching mayhem. LA's ALPHA & OMEGA (not to be confused with the sassy-haired christian emo sissies from jersey) evoke the best parts of classic NYHC with a modern hardcore vibe. The comparisons to fellow Angelinos TERROR are unmistakable. Put your hoods up and X up your hands (not too much though, we think you look better when you're drunk) for this rager. Also appearing are midwest mosh maniacs EXPIRE, TAKE OFFENSE, LEFT ALIVE, and CUT YOUR TEETH.

and then on friday...
Providence's THE BODY are among our favorite bands to see live. ever. This will be their 3rd time gracing our stage, and I can't tell you how excited I am. Thunderous. Haunting. Explosive. This southern transplanted duo of destruction wage war on your soul and your ears. And if that's not enough...
Fucking WHITEHORSE are playing as well!! Melbourne's monolithic metal titans play their penultimate show of a full US tour, and I can't imagine a better place to play. These guys have been laying waste to the Aussie coast and the world for 7 years, and this is my personal first chance to see them. what a gig this will be. And not to be dismissed, Brooklyn psychdoomers and personal fave of mine BAD DREAM will be opening this show, as UNEARTHLY TRANCE has recently announced they will no longer be playing live. Stick around too, as Shanna and maybe some guests will be DJing a doomerific afterparty next door at the Anchored Inn!

Most people equate norwegian metal with the black metal scene, but that means they're missing out on bands like ARABROT. to call them technical isn't quite accurate, nor is calling them noise. They're somewhere in between, existing in a realm of chaos and psychosis by their lonesome. They recently exposed themselves to the SXSW crowd, but now WE get them this sunday, along with portland crazy people and genius band namers WIZARD RIFLE.
this post may mke no sense, it's 10 in the morning and I'm drunk. come to this show. it will rip.

March has indeed been kind to us. Not only do we have our bathrooms back (finally! jesus!) but we also have NON STOP KILLER SHOWS! Tonight we have a last-minute relocation of the VAMPILLIA and FASHION WEEK show. VAMPILLIA THE BRUTAL ORCHESTRA hail from Japan, and are purveyors of some of the most bizarre experimental soundtrack that you could think to label as music. Their recent 2 track album "Alchemic Heart" assaults the listener with strange and esoteric noises, screams and sirens reminiscent of the Boredoms. This show will be an all out attack on your senses.
Tonight! tuesday march 22nd doors 8pm $8 ALL AGES
Hailing from Miami, CAPSULE have been one of my personal favorites for a while. I had the pleasure of playing with them last year at the Cake Shop, but I'm more stoked, obviously, to have them here at the Acheron. To call them post-hardcore may be accurate, but doesn't do justice to the layered, brutal energy that hits you when you hear these guys play. Appearing with BLACK KITES, DIVORCE MONEY, and CLOSED//MOUTH
Friday, March 25th 8pm doors $8 ALL AGES
and finally, oh yes. oh fuck yes. NUNSLAUGHTER. In their first New York appearance in 10 years, the unholy goatfuckers from the midwest are coming here to rip you a new asshole. I really need say nothing more. If you miss this you are not metal.
Saturday, March 26th 7pm doors $15 ALL AGES
THERE ARE NO PRESALE TICKETS FOR THIS SHOW. SHOW UP EARLY IF YOU WANT TO GET IN AS THIS WILL CERTAINLY SELL OUT.

Old friends of the house, Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray are a Chicago duo of incredible talent and ablity. Utilizing an americana arsenal of instrumentation - from banjo and guitar to keyboard, single kick drum and some manner of finger chime - these two put forth some of the most heart-wrenching, dark songwriting I've heard in a long time. We've coupled them with Northwest electro-ambient instrumentalist Young Bear - whose sonic textures wrap you up like a snuggy of drug-addled hums and whirs, and also with Brooklyn minimalists Cloaked, also know colloquially as the Montana Masback Mystical Experience. This side project of Tournament explores the more psychedelic areas the noise-rockers felt have been treading through over the past couple years. Come down and enjoy one of our rare quieter nights.

Holy shit. Spring just keeps getting better and better. Ian at Hardcore Gig Volume has done it again, bringing us one of the most brutal gigs of the year. Sweden's MIASMAL and INTERNAL ROT, Austin's HATRED SURGE and MAMMOTH GRINDER, and the inimitable INNUMERABLE FORMS. What. The. FUCK!!

Also raging are ALL TORN UP, PLANNED COLLAPSE, and POPULATION ZERO. This show starts at 4pm. And hey punks, you still can't bring forties in, but we got you covered.

Richmond doom stoners WINDHAND return to our stage this Saturday to pummel you with killer riffage. Drummer Ryan Wolfe also plays in Dixie warriors MIGHT COULD with TJ Childers, who rips heavy chops in compatriots LORD BY FIRE. And as if that wasnt enough, the bill is rounded out by our favorite local psychedelic warlords BAD DREAM. You could also come out to the Anchored Inn tonight, Thursday, and listen to BAD DREAM drummer Shanna White rip killer tunes! make a weekend of it!!
