True Widow / Bad Dream Wednesday! Hot Graves / Occultist Sunday BBQ matinee! Restorations / Bats & Mice Sunday night!

We're really stoked to announce that Texas trio TRUE WIDOW will be playing this Wednesday at The Acheron with local fuzz-rock favorites BAD DREAMThis promises to be an evening of heavy and gorgeous proportion.

From NoisePop:

With the demise of the pummeling punk band Slowride, songwriter Dan Phillips walked away from music for a brief stint in woodworking before returning to his fist love. He formed True Widow as an attempt to make space between him and his previous incantation, and set out to create melodic and heavy music that slowed the pace and heightened the power. Now a fully formed trio, True Widow is equal parts shoegaze and soaring post rock, but with surprisingly heartfelt lyrics and magnificently beautiful subtleties.

We're closed for a private event on Saturday, but Sunday brings us a double header like we've never done before. Starting at 3pm we're doing a BBQ matinee show for Florida heavy Jammers HOT GRAVES and Richmond pagans OCCULTIST. In true southern fashion, we'll be drinking cold beer and eating barbecue while jamming out to some kick-ass metal.

Later that night, the indie kids will have their say! BATS & MICE have a resumé a mile long, with the likes of SLEEPYTIME TRIO, ENGINE DOWN, 400 YEARS and myriad others establishing a solid pedigree, these guys bring their own brand of melodic pop/rock to our stage Sunday night, alongside mellow fellows RESTORATIONS and brooklyn punk-poppers LITTLE LUNGS, who are recently back from an Australian tour.

HOLY CRAP WHAT A WEEK!! ACID TIGER! CEREMONY! ASSRASH! TRUE WIDOW! WHITE LUNG!

This week promises to be our biggest yet! Starting with Thursday's ACID TIGER show (featuring TOURNAMENT, GATORS, and CHAMBERS), we don't let up at all!

Thursday Night is Brooklyn's own ACID TIGER, a crazed rock & roll juggernaut with members of CONVERGE and THURSDAY. Also on the bill is local workhorses TOURNAMENT, having just recorded yet again, as well as GATORS and CHAMBERS. This is going to be crowded so get here early!

Friday night Vancouver rockers WHITE LUNG swings back around to bushwick, with local weird-core hardcore yankees POLLUTION and PASSIVE AGGRESSOR. This will be Meredith's last gig with the PA, so send her off in appropriate style. Also on the bill is LONGPIGS.

Saturday keeps trucking on with an after show for the EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING show at Death By Audio. The Acheron and Hardcore Gig Volume proudly present CEREMONY and SKIN LIKE IRON in a late show Saturday June 19th. Doors will be at 11:30, and will be $6. As always, this show is ALL AGES.

Sunday is no time to call it a weekend, as New York metal mayhem kicks in with Relapse Records artists FLOURISHING, MALKUTH,  and HUMANITY FALLS. This promises to be some face-ripping brutality, not to be missed!

and if that's not enough for you, Monday brings us Minneapolis punk legends ASSRASH with local punkers STATE OF DECLINE, PERDITION, and THE MISANTHROPES. Classic smelly hardcore the way it's meant to be done.

after a day of rest, we're back on Wednesday the 23rd with a psychedelic evening of rock n' roll experimentation. TRUE WIDOW from Texas are a trio of stoned out psych purveyors in the classiest sense. drawing heavily from shoegaze and the early 90s northwest scene. fuzzy swirling soundscapes giveway just long enough to draw you back in. Sharing the stage are Williamsburg favorites BAD DREAM, who rock their own swirling 60s style. This show is going to be a surefire winner!

Friday Double Header! Fast Death Early! Austin Lucas late!

Boston's FAST DEATH will be kicking off this weekend's punk double header with raw thrash and speedfreakery. Killing it with them on the Early show will be Albany's NEUTRON RATS and local noise shredders NOMAD and crash-stenchers CERVIX. Get there early. Remember punx, no BYOB at the Acheron. $7 7pm get it on.

And stick around for the late show with punk balladeer AUSTIN LUCAS. You may know Austin from his killer D-beat band GUIDED CRADLE, but this guy makes some of the most hearbreaking and inspring country and folk around right now. He's on tour with fellow punk folkster DAMION SUOMI and we may have a very special local guest on stage with them, so be sure to enjoy a whiskey-soaked night of amazing music!

finally, we just got the flyer up for June 17th's ACID TIGER show. here it is. Kill, buddy.
